Career Opportunity: Survey Technician
Location: Fort St. John
Salary: $34-45 / Hour
Vector Geomatics is a privately owned and operated professional land surveying company with offices in Fort St John, Kelowna, Chilliwack, Prince George and Calgary which provide a wide range of professional land surveying, municipal engineering, planning, and land information/mapping solutions to oil and gas, transportation and land development clients within British Columbia and Alberta.

Responsibilities:
•Lead and supervise a survey crew in conducting field surveys and collecting geospatial data using state-of-the-art surveying equipment and techniques.
•Plan and organize survey projects, including establishing project specifications, survey methodologies, and timelines.
•Perform field survey work, including but not limited to boundary surveys, topographic surveys, construction layout, and control surveys.
•Operate and maintain surveying instruments, such as total stations, GPS receivers, and data collectors.
•Conduct quality control checks to ensure accuracy and precision of collected survey data.
•Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to coordinate survey activities and meet project requirements.
•Prepare survey reports, field notes, and other documentation as required.
•Train and mentor junior surveyors and field crew members.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies.
Requirements:
•Experience as a Survey Technician or similar role in the land surveying industry
•Proficient knowledge of land surveying principles, practices, and survey equipment.
•Strong understanding of legal land survey requirements and applicable regulations.
•Demonstrated experience in conducting various types of surveys, including boundary surveys, topographic surveys, construction layout, and control surveys.
•Proficiency in operating surveying instruments such as total stations, GPS receivers, and data collectors.
•Excellent leadership and team management skills.
•Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with project managers, clients, and other team members.
•Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
•Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as required.
•Ability to travel out of town is required
